How to submit sitemap for Blogspot Blog on Google search console?

Submitting your Blogspot blog's sitemap to Google Search Console is a crucial step to ensure your content is properly crawled and indexed. A sitemap acts like a roadmap, helping Google discover all the pages and posts on your blog. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Step 1: Access Google Search Console

First, you need to go to Google Search Console. Navigate to the Google Search Console website and sign in with the same Google account you use for your Blogspot blog.

If this is your first time, you'll need to add your blog as a property. Use the "URL prefix" option and enter your complete blog URL (e.g., https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/). Since you're signed in with your Blogger account, Google will likely auto-verify your ownership.

Step 2: Find Your Blogspot Sitemap URL

Blogger automatically generates a sitemap for your blog, so you don't need to create one from scratch. Your sitemap URL is usually your blog's address followed by sitemap.xml.

For example: https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml

You can also submit other sitemaps for different content types, such as sitemap-pages.xml for static pages.

Step 3: Submit the Sitemap in Search Console

Once you're in your Google Search Console dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. In the left-hand menu, click on "Sitemaps."

  2. In the "Add a new sitemap" box, type sitemap.xml (or sitemap-pages.xml if you're submitting that one). You only need to enter the part that comes after your domain name.

  3. Click the "Submit" button.

Step 4: Check the Status

After you've submitted the sitemap, Google will process it. You'll see a status in the "Submitted sitemaps" section below.

  • A "Success" status means the sitemap was submitted correctly. It might take some time for Google to crawl and index all the URLs.

  • If you see an error, double-check the URL you entered to make sure there are no typos. Common errors can be due to incorrect URLs or connectivity issues.

Google will now use this sitemap to discover and index your blog's content. As you publish new posts, your sitemap will automatically update, and Google will eventually find the new content, so you don't need to re-submit it every time. However, for a brand new post, you can use the URL Inspection Tool to request indexing for that specific URL to speed up the process.

In general Blogspot blog is not indexed by Google because Google webmaster does not found any sitemap for the website. In this case you need to do that manually with the following simple method.
Step 1: Login the Google webmaster tools and select the blogspot domain you want to add the sitemap.
Step 2: Go to Crawl > Sitemaps.
Step 3: Click on the “ADD/TEST SITEMAP” at the upper right of the screen. In the box, paste the following code.

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500 


Step 4: Click on "Submit" button. Refresh the page. This will submit your website on Google for indexing
